Baylor – How will Matt Rhule lead this team past adversity?

Baylor Football has been in the news for all the wrong reasons this past calendar year. They’ve been connected to accusations of sexual assault, which led to head coach Art Briles’ dismissal before the 2016 season. That didn’t cause the headlines to go away, but with a new regime in place, maybe the Bears can get past the adversity.

This all starts with new head coach Matt Rhule, who departed from Temple to take the same position. He’s tasked with leading a gutted and defeated team into this new era of Baylor Football, which will be difficult.

Getting positive press toward the program should be Rhule’s plan. He needs to keep the team clean through the offseason, focusing on this being a new group of players with a different attitude toward the game of football. No one will mess around and he’ll preach his athletes for staying out of trouble.

Of course, that’s easier said than done. This team has to first stay clean until the summer and then carry on through the season. He’ll have to do this for a program that reached rocked bottom in 2016.
