First Basemen

High Salary Option

Joey Votto ($5,100): While it is very hard to look away from Anthony Rizzo right now, Votto’s career numbers against Matt Garza make it possible. Votto is hitting .353 lifetime against the aging Brewers starter, and has hitting his way out of slow start over the past week. This should be another chance to continue to propel himself to life.

High Value Option

Mike Napoli ($4,300): There are not a lot of truly ‘cheap’ options worth picking up today at 1B, but Napoli checks in well underneath where the elite players at the position are today. He’ll be paired off against Phil Hughes, is prone to allow some hard contact and could feed into Napoli’s wheelhouse, as he is hitting righties well this year.

Rank  Em:

  1. Votto
  2. Anthony Rizzo ($5,300)
  3. Ryan Zimmerman ($4,900)
  4. Paul Goldschmidt ($5,200)
  5. Wil Myers ($4,800)

Third Basemen

High Salary Option

Nolan Arenado ($5,600): Jacob Turner will make his season debut in probably the worst circumstances a pitcher could ask for: in Coors Field against a red-hot Rockies club. As a result, Arenado is must play today. He is slashing .357/.419/.786 in the young season and continues to prove himself to be one of the game’s greats. Pay for the man today.

High Value Option

Justin Turner ($3,400): Turner has been consistent if anything over the last week, carrying his current hit streak up to nine games despite being hampered by an injured hand. His asking price is incredible today and if combined with saving at the pitcher’s spot, could help afford top talents at other positions, while still getting strong production.

Rank Em:

  1. Arenado
  2. Anthony Rendon ($5,200)
  3. Kris Bryant ($5,000)
  4. Jake Lamb ($4,300)
  5. Joey Gallo ($4,000)
