The Falcons authored a surprising run to the Super Bowl last year. In retrospect, we should have seen it coming together down south. The Falcons have built a young, fast defense under head coach Dan Quinn to pair with an explosive offense. However, looking into 2017, Atlanta clearly needs to continue bringing in more help to the front seven, which has some weak points. The Falcons did well to sign Dontari Poe on a one-year deal, but remains absent a complimentary pass-rusher opposite Vic Beasley Jr., who led the league in sacks.
General manager Thomas Dimitroff will have options in the EDGE department, and he gets Jordan Willis here. Willis has been rising up a litany of boards with a terrific combine that saw the former Kansas State star run a 4.53 40-yard dash. Weighing in at 255 pounds, Willis might bulk up a bit to play with his hand on the ground in Atlanta’s 4-3 scheme. Regardless, he would be a nice fit along a line oozing with talent. The Falcons should be thinking about landing a long-term fit who can come in and immediately help toward another Super Bowl run. Willis fits both categories.
