Dalvin Cook

RB, Florida State

The Philadelphia Eagles struggled to be consistent on offense last season, and there were plenty of reasons why. First, they started a rookie quarterback for the entire season, and there are sure to be growing pains there. The fact is, Carson Wentz played very well, showing the organization that he is the future at the position, and they made the choice by picking him at No. 2 in the 2016 NFL Draft.

At wide receiver, the Eagles got good production from Jordan Matthews, but he is not a true WR1. To add depth, the team brought in Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery this offseason, giving Wentz an incredible corps of wideouts for the upcoming season. That position is set, and with their first round pick, they need to bring in a player who can take over the game from the running back position, and Florida State’s Dalvin Cook can do just that.

The draft will be held in Philly, and thanks to a trade with the Minnesota Vikings last preseason, the Eagles regained the pick they lost when they traded for No. 2 last year. With Cook in the backfield, Wentz will have quite a weapon, and the Eagles should be pretty dominant on offense in 2017. There has been questions about his character this draft season, but Cook’s talent is too good to pass up at No. 14 when you have no true running back heading into next season.
