Mitchell Trubisky

QB, UNC

In recent days, there has been a ton of speculation that Mitchell Trubisky is going to go first overall to the Cleveland Browns. While we do not expect that to happen, we do think he is going to go early in round one, but five picks later than the top pick. At No. 6, Trubisky will be the face of the New York Jets franchise, as they turn the page from guys like Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty at the quarterback position.

While this pick may be a stretch, Trubisky does have the physical ability to be a starting quarterback in this league. He certainly is athletic enough, and also possesses the arm strength to make all the throws at the next level. The knock on him is his experience, as he has started only 13 games for the University of North Carolina.

As of right now, the Jets do have three quarterbacks on their roster, and all three will be given the opportunity to start in 2017. That says a lot about the lack of a true starter, and head coach Todd Bowles may want to roll the dice on Trubisky, as he may be better than anyone they have right now. Bowles also could go defense here, as he is a defensive coach, but the allure of Trubisky may be too much for a franchise who has not had a star quarterback in what seems like forever.
