NHL Playoffs 2017: Pageau scores 4, wins it in 2OT (Video)
A spectacular performance from Jean-Gabriel Pageau spurred Ottawa’s comeback victory.
The Ottawa Senators took a 2-0 series lead over the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon, winning 6-5 in a double overtime thriller.
The star of the night was Jean-Gabriel Pageau, whose four goals (including the overtime winner) pushed the Sens to come back from an early deficit.
The 24-year-old forward almost single-handedly brought Ottawa back into the game, scoring his second and third goals of the game in the last five minutes to tie it at 5. The Rangers jumped out to a two-goal lead in the second period, and were up 5-3 until the last four minutes of the third period.
Pageau tied the game with 1:02 left to play, and later won it just 2:54 into the second overtime period. He now has five goals in the 2017 playoffs, and 11 career points in the postseason. This isn’t the first time Pageau has been a playoff hero for Ottawa though, scoring a hat trick against the Montreal Canadiens in their first-round series in 2013.
This is the third playoff hat trick in Senators history, both of the last two belonging to Pageau. The only other was scored by Daniel Alfredsson years ago.

With the emotional win in Game 2, the Senators now take their 2-0 series lead to Madison Square Garden to try and finish off the Rangers. Game 3 will be Tuesday night, as Henrik Lundqvist (who made 42 saves in game two) and New York try to get back into the series.
