2017 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars final draft grade
As mentioned, the only way to completely believe that the Jaguars did everything they can with Bortles is to build up every position around Bortles and see how he does on a complete team. The defense is ready, the running game got a jolt and now they have a high upside lineman who can start right away. They traded up for the move and it shows just how desperate they were to add this top talent from Alabama.
The question with Robinson is what offensive line spot will he play. He played left tackle in college, but many think he may be too slow to play there in the NFL. The team also just traded for Brandon Albert to play left tackle so in the immediate future there are bigger holes elsewhere.
The best bet is left, guard. The team lost Luke Joeckel who played guard last season, and there is now a hole bigger than there previously was. Patrick Omameh is slotted into starting guard, and while he saw some time last year, it wasn’t great and he can easily be beaten out by Robinson. A new run-first identity finds a run blocker on the inside. The Dolphins kicked Laremy Tunsil from guard to tackle to replace Albert last year, and Robinson may be on the same track this year.
