Courtland Sutton

WR, SMU

For all the issues this organization has had this offseason, the Washington Redskins actually put together a nice draft class in 2017. They had an absolute steal in the first round, selecting Jonathan Allen out of Alabama to bolster their defensive line. In the second round, Washington brought in another stud defensive player from Alabama, drafting linebacker Ryan Anderson. When they selected cornerback UCLA Fabian Moreau with their third pick, it was clear that defense was the focus in 2017.

With their first round pick in 2018, the Redskins should look to improve on a depleted wide receiver corps. This offseason, Washington has lost Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson to free agency, while bringing in Terrell Pryor. There are some solid wide receivers in next year’s draft class, and SMU’s Courtland Sutton may be the best of the bunch.

Nobody knows what the team is going to do with Kirk Cousins, who is playing under the franchise tag for the second year in a row in 2017. Sutton had an incredible season for the Mustangs last year, catching over 75 balls for 1,246 yards and ten touchdowns. He wants to be the best wideout in college football season, which could lead to him being selected early in the 2018 NFL Draft next April.
