RB, Georgia

The 2017 NFL season could be the year the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make it back to the playoffs, but they will have to navigate a tough NFC South to do so. We have them picking at No. 14 here, but if they continue to get better, they could be picking much later in this draft. During the 2017 NFL Draft, the Bucs filled a huge hole by selecting Alabama tight end O.J. Howard, who should give star quarterback Jameis Winston the underneath option he needs to take the next step in his development.

With their first round pick in 2018, the Bucs need to bring in their next franchise running back. Doug Martin burst onto the scene for Tampa Bay as a 22-year old rookie in 2012, rushing for over 1,400 yards. After battling injuries and issues off the field the next two seasons, Martin once again exploded in 2015, racking up over 1,400 yards for the second straight time. He has been very good, and very inconsistent during his career, and it is time to turn the page to a new chapter.

Georgia’s Nick Chubb is widely regarded as one of the best running backs in this draft class, and he has shown during his time with the Bulldogs that he is an incredible talent. Chubb battled with the idea of leaving school after the 2016 season, but instead chose to head back to campus for one more shot at an SEC title. He is going to be a fantastic running back at the next level, and would give Winston the kind of back he can rely on for a complete 16 game schedule.
