Tyquan Lewis

DL, Ohio State

The New Orleans Saints had two picks in the first round in the 2017 NFL Draft, and did a nice job bringing in players who are going to help them immediately. With the No. 11 pick, the Saints took Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore, who is widely regarded as the best cornerback in the draft class. At the bottom of the round, the Saints took Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk, who many believed was the No. 1 or 2 offensive tackle in the draft.

In 2018, the Saints should look to add to their defensive line, and grabbing another Ohio State product in the first round may be the way to go. Tyquan Lewis has been a stud since his freshman year with the Buckeyes, where he played in all 15 games during their National Championship season. Last season, Lewis had 7.5 sacks for the No. 4 ranked defense in the country, as he was named the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year.

The Saints need to get after the quarterback, as the NFC South is loaded with talented signal-callers. If the Saints can continue to get better on defense, they should be able to contend for another division title by the time star quarterback Drew Brees finally retires. Lewis is a difference maker, and could be the most beloved Ohio State defensive lineman to play for the Saints since the late Will Smith.
