Jake Browning

QB, Washington

Sitting at No. 13 in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, it seemed like the Arizona Cardinals were destined to draft their quarterback of the future. With current starter Carson Palmer nearing the end of his career, possibly this season, the Cardinals needed to bring someone in to take over the reins when he is done. Instead, the Houston Texans traded up and selected Deshaun Watson, and all three top quarterbacks were off the board by the time the Cards selected.

The Cardinals missed out on their chance to draft  their future QB in 2017, and they won’t make that mistake again next April. The 2018 draft class is loaded with quarterbacks, and few have been as prolific as Jake Browning has been during his time with the Washington Huskies. Arizona would be a perfect fit for Browning, who despite being a bit undersized, should be a tremendous player at the next level.

Browning was the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year last season, after leading the Huskies to a berth in the College Football Playoff. As a sophomore in 2016, he threw for an incredible 43 touchdown passes against only nine interceptions, leading the Huskies to a Pac-12 Championship. The junior had surgery on his shoulder after the team’s loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, though he should be ready to go when the Huskies open their 2017 campaign on the road against Rutgers.
