Minkah Fitzpatrick

S, Alabama

The Minnesota Vikings had no first round pick in 2017, which was the price they had to pay when starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with a devastating injury during the preseason. Minnesota had to trade their pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, who in turn sent Sam Bradford to the Vikings to be their new starter. The Vikings made a controversial pick with their second round choice, selecting troubled Florida State star running back Dalvin Cook, who will battle with Latavius Murray to be the team’s top back this season.

Minnesota will have a first round pick in 2018, and they should look to bolster their secondary with that pick. Minkah Fitzpatrick is arguably the best safety in this draft class, as it really is a coin-flip between he and Derwin James of Florida State. Fitzpatrick is a freak from his safety position, and last season, he set the career record for interceptions for touchdowns (4), showing just how athletic he is.

Fitzpatrick is a fantastic talent, and a good NFL Scouting Combine may land him in the top-5 picks in the draft. If the Vikings are picking in the top-10, they would be more than happy with selecting Fitzpatrick, who is the game-changer their defense has been lacking for years. The Vikings play against guys like Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers twice a year, so a solid safety is imperative if they want to be a contender in a very solid NFC North.
