Christian Wilkins

DT, Clemson

The Miami Dolphins needed to bolster their defensive line in the 2017 NFL Draft, and they instead chose to get better at linebacker. The Dolphins spent their first two picks on that position, and while that does improve the defense a lot, they still need help up front. A playoff team in 2016, we expect the Dolphins to take a step back in 2017, and will likely find themselves picking in the top-10 picks of the draft.

With their pick, they should look to bring in a defensive lineman, and Christian Wilkins from Clemson is a freak of a talent. Wilkins is a versatile player, starting at tackle as a freshman, and then as an end last season. He is a huge reason why the Clemson Tigers went to back-to-back national title games, and is the kind of player that others gravitate towards.

The Dolphins need more leaders, as they finally have the right head coach in place. Adam Gase turned this franchise around last season, and while a Wild Card was a huge achievement, they do not have the pieces in place to make another run in 2018. Bringing in a player like Wilkins along the defensive line is the way to go, as Cameron Wake is getting up there in age, and teams that play in the AFC East still have to get after Tom Brady twice a season.
