Starting Pitchers

High Salary Options

Jake Arrieta ($10,900): Arrieta’s surface level numbers have not been encouraging, and his last time to the mound was a particularly rough one as well, as the Red Sox tagged him for five runs in under five innings. However, he has still been able to miss bats on the regular and faces a Phillies’ lineup who is prone to the K. It should be a bounce back day for Arrieta.

Jacob deGrom ($10,400): He stands as the only redeemable part of the Mets’ rotation now with Noah Syndergaard down and out, so his starts mean that much more. He’ll get a Braves team today that is carrying a .227 cumulative batting average against him, so he should be in line for very big outing on a day where there are few (if any) sure bets taking to the mound.

High Value Option

Julio Urias ($8,500): The offense has struggled as a whole, and Urias extended those woes in his season debut last Thursday, holding them to one run over 5.2 innings. He did have some control issues and was pulled after 90 pitches, so there could be some limitations in deploying him. However, the upside is big and he could be a tremendous stack play.

Rank Em:

  1. deGrom
  2. Arrieta
  3. Carlos Carrasco ($10,700)
  4. Urias
  5. Gio Gonzalez ($8,800)

Catchers

High Salary Option

Russell Martin ($3,500): It is a bad day for catching options across the game, so looking to see where an inch could turn into a mile is the best play. Martin has been solid against CC Sabathia and the Yankees, and doesn’t carry a restricting price tag.

High Value Option

Matt Wieters ($3,200): Wieters has hit .500 over the past week, and gets a pairing against Robbie Ray on the day that could be a fruitful one. He is hitting .625 with a pair of homers in eight at-bats against southpaws this year.

Rank Em:

  1. Martin
  2. Buster Posey ($3,600)
  3. Wieters
  4. Jonathan Lucroy ($3,900)
  5. Evan Gattis ($4,000)
