DraftKings Daily Picks: Fantasy baseball lineup – May 4
Starting Pitchers
High Salary Option
Max Scherzer ($12,600): Scherzer is the by and far best (and only) choice to make among true high salary starters today. He has only turned in one outing underneath 25 points on the year, he has struck out 40 over 33 innings and has a WHIP south of 1.00. He’s among the most dominant fantasy options in the game on a day where there is no one approaching his level in play.
High Value Options
Ivan Nova ($8,700): Nova’s dominant turn since joining up with the Pirates last August has continued this year, and he is coming in Thursday looking for an encore of his complete game shutout last week against the Marlins. He’s priced to go at $8,700, and could be one of half of a strong value stack at pitcher if Scherzer is too expensive for one’s blood.
Michael Fulmer ($8,600): Fulmer has not been specifically dominant on the year, but that is okay, because there is a place for consistency as well. And you know what you’ll get with him, as he has shown a knack for bouncing back after subpar starts, as his last one was.
Rank Em:
- Scherzer
- Nova
- Fulmer
- John Lackey ($8,900)
- Zack Wheeler ($9,000)

Catcher
High Salary Option
J.T. Realmuto ($3,700): The Marlins’ backstop has been steady this year, and broke out of a bad slump he’d been mired in to start the week on Wednesday, going 2-for-5, with a triple and 4 RBI. Rays’ starter Matt Andriese represents another shot for him to keep pulling back into form.
High Value Option
Cameron Rupp ($2,900): The catcher slate is plain terrible today up and down, so if one decides to punt on the entire position, I don’t blame them. Rupp is a solid punt option, who will draw John Lackey, who he could at least cash in on with some solid contact. He has hit in three of his last four and is coming in off an off day yesterday.
Rank Em:
- Realmuto
- Jonathan Lucroy ($3,600)
- Brian McCann ($3,400)
- Salvador Perez ($3,500)
- Matt Wieters ($3,200)
