Starting Pitchers

High Salary Options

Stephen Strasburg ($10,600): I love this opportunity for Strasburg, who is obviously capable of working up high strikeout totals and gets a club that can provide them in Philadelphia. He is coming in off an aberration of a game, where he only struck out two Mets on April 29th, but should get the bump needed to be the best investment on the day.

Dallas Keuchel ($10,400): I was on the fence about this one being either Keuchel, who has been the most steadily effective arm in the game so far this year, or Danny Salazar, who could be in for a big night of K’s against the Royals. Ultimately, I leaned Keuchel for the simple reason of he could be facing an Angels club that will be without Mike Trout, who missed Thursday due to a hamstring injury. The Halo’s danger as a whole falls off the table when down Trout, and this could be an easy night at the office for Keuchel, who is looking for his MLB-best sixth win.

High Value Options

Lance Lynn ($7,800): Lynn continues to be one of the quietly most productive arms in the game this year. He is the perfect secondary pitching option; one who keeps the self-imposed damage down, but can also go into the business of working up enough strikeouts to move into the mid-20s in points. He has great chance to do so in Atlanta on Friday night.

Rank Em:

  1. Strasburg
  2. Keuchel
  3. Danny Salazar ($10,000)
  4. Yu Darvish ($11,200)
  5. Lynn

Catchers

High Salary Options

Buster Posey ($4,500): Look at that big price tag next to Posey today! It tells you two things, that a) he’s finally being recognized for being in his usual elite form again, and that b) he’s getting a matchup that he can truly exploit in the form of Bronson Arroyo in the friendly confines of The Great American Ballpark. It’s a tough tag to bear, but it could be fruitful.

High Value Options

Yan Gomes ($2,900): If you’re looking to go in the complete opposite direction, take a long look at Gomes. He’ll get a very generous pairing with Royals’ starter Jason Hammel today and has hit like a beast on the road so far, posting a .313 average over 32 at-bats.

Rank Em:

  1. Posey
  2. Evan Gattis ($3,600)
  3. Matt Wieters ($3,600)
  4. Jontahan Lucroy ($3,500)
  5. Gomes
