3. Power Forward

With Parker sure to miss at least around half of next season, the Bucks are facing the prospect of Thon Maker starting at power forward with very little behind him. Spencer Hawes may be back, if he exercises his $6 million contract option, but outside of John Henson’s ability to play center and power forward the pickings are very slim at the four-spot for the Bucks right now.

A draft pick just outside the lottery could be used on a power forward, or a dip into free agency could also come. With another need on this list in mind, a “stretch four” that is a legit threat offensively would be preferred in the draft and/or free agency. Parker’s long-term outlook does not seem to be in serious doubt, so a free agent power forward on a short-term deal could be a particular fit for a young team with rising expectations.

The Bucks don’t necessarily need to go into the deep end of free agency, and go after someone like Blake Griffin if he opts out. But a calculated move for someone who fits a certain mold has to be a priority this summer, if only for depth purposes to provide a veteran presence with Maker.
