4. Bring on a consistent reserve point guard

Surely, Chris Paul is one of the NBA’s most elite guards. He has consistently averaged over 20 points and 9 assists over his career. However, Paul is in desperate need of support. If Paul is on the bench, things begin to go haywire for the Clippers. Crawford can only run the point so much. Rivers and Raymond Felton offer little relief while J.J. Redick is a one-strength player and lacks much facilitation ability.

Patty Mills may be an option, although it appears he will resign with San Antonio. Further down the list is Ty Lawson. He is aging but still puts up suitable numbers. Rivers does not cut it as a backup guard. His shoot-first mentality does not fit Los Angeles’ needs.

Granted, the point guard position is not the only slot lacking depth. In fact, the Clippers could go a different direction with almost all positions. Experimenting would be beneficial as Los Angeles literally has nothing to lose. Its current roster has proven gaps exist and fixing them is imperative. Explore the market and take a different risk. Using the same pieces to connect the dots has failed, it is time to head into another direction.
