4. Live your life-long dreams through your kids

LaVar ball grew up in Los Angeles, California (South LA to be exact). Now, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that LaVar grew up a UCLA fan. However, he has lived in LA his whole life, so I’ll take my chances in assuming he was a Bruins fan.

LaVar has gone on record stating that all of his kids will attend UCLA, no matter the coach. In a Sports Illustrated article from March, it was noted that LaVar’s dream was to father three basketball players (following an unsuccessful collegiate career of his own).

However, based on the fact that LaVar attended three different colleges and still could not manage to find his way to a major D1 program, LaVar’s ideal dream was likely to play ball at UCLA and then professionally. But, since LaVar’s dream became unattainable during his time at Cal State Los Angeles, he traveled down the next best route.

Unfortunately, as the case for many athletes, the Ball kids’ future was determined for them.

Now, I’m not saying they don’t enjoy all of the hard work and fame on top of being a baller. I’m just simply noting that this is a classic case of a father living out his athletic dreams through his children, and these cases usually do not end favorably.

Don’t be that guy.

Unless you want to be a Big Baller, in that case, be that guy.
