DraftKings fantasy golf picks: The PLAYERS Championship 2017
$7,000 and below
Ryan Moore ($7,000): There’s a bit of sleeping going on with Ryan Moore, but he’s playing solid golf right now. He has three finishes in the top-18 in his last four tournaments, including tying for ninth at The Masters. Great value if he keeps it up.
Wesley Bryan ($6,900): If you love riding the lightning, Bryan is the guy for you. He has tremendous upside with a win and four top-10 finishes this season. Of course, he also has three missed cuts and two additional finishes outside of the top 60. Huge risk, but potential reward is there.
Brendan Steele ($6,900): Steele hasn’t been in his best form of late, failing to make a top-25 in his last three outings. With that said, he’s also not missed a cut this season, so he could be a reliable cheap option if you want to keep scoring going into the weekend. There’s just no guarantee how much help that weekend scoring will do.
Cameron Smith ($6,900): Smith’s end of April was strong after ending March poorly. He tied for sixth in the Valero Texas Open and then was part of the winning team at the Zurich Classic. After a week off, this feels like too good of value to pass up.
Bernd Wiesberger ($6,800): So Wiesberger has been slaying on the European Tour of late, finishing tied for fourth in his last tourney and winning the one immediately prior. What’s more, he played decently at The Masters, but got tripped up by first and third round bogeys. He’s a sleeper that I like this week.
Brian Harman ($6,800): After winning last week at the Wells Fargo, it’s hard not to include Harman at this price on DraftKings. Though he missed the cut at the Shell Houston Open, he’s finished tied-13th or better in three of his last four showings.
Adam Hadwin ($6,800): Hadwin is 10-for-10 in made cuts this season and, though he has some albatrosses in terms of finishes, he has three top-six finishes in 2017 as well. I think he’ll show quite well at Sawgrass.
Brian Gay ($6,700): Gay wasn’t great at the Wells Fargo on the weekend, dropping to T52 for his finish. However, he tied for sixth in his two tournaments before that and has been a strong player for the majority of the years.
Graeme McDowell ($6,700): I mentioned McDowell last week and he had a nice showing. He’s as reliable as they come and has top-20 upside every time out. Him being this lowly priced makes him hard to not include to really round out a lineup.
Kyle Stanley ($6,700): Stanley is similar to McDowell, also having missed just one cut this season. He’s also had nice showings to his credit, his best being tying for eighth at the Shell Houston Open.
Ross Fisher ($6,600): If you need to dig this deep, Fisher should be your guy. He has a solid 5-for-7 mark in cuts made, but has a top-10 in three of the five tournaments where he’s made the cut, though the last two were in Europe. Still, he has sleeper potential and could make a nice name for himself at The PLAYERS.
