Because once you hit a certain age as a beloved pop culture figure, everyone assumes the worst when your name pops up on social media.

Betty White is still with us, everyone. No need for alarm.

The 95-year-old TV star and all around entertainment icon set off alarm bells on Wednesday afternoon thanks to her name popping up as a trending topic on Twitter. Naturally, this freaked out many fans who feared that she had passed away.

People quickly went from scared to upset too.

More than one Twitter user commented on the “boy who cried wolf” nature of White social media surges, noting that when she does sadly leave us, no one will know for sure it’s actually happened.

Others pointed that if something tragic happened to White, other media outlets would confirm it, not leave Twitter alone on an island.

White was actually in the celebrity news earlier this week for dumping a guy she was dating, proving she’s as feisty as ever as she gets closer to 100. Alas, the way Twitter trends tend to take on a life of their own like self-fueling fires, this probably won’t be the last time we see her name pop up as a top trending topic and see plenty of people freaking out.

If that’s not proof that lots of people love you in the year 2017, nothing is.
