Two Titans players find themselves in some legal trouble after an alleged assault based on anger from a 2017 NFL Draft pick.

Playing time is a serious topic in the NFL, and it became very real on the night of the 2017 NFL Draft, as two Tennessee Titans players were accused of assaulting a man at a bar in Nashville.

The lawsuit, filed by a man named Dante Satterfield on Wednesday, claims that wide receiver Tajae Sharpe and guard Sebastian Tretola assaulted him over the team’s pick of wide receiver Corey Davis in the first round of the draft.

Satterfield’s lawsuit says the group was at the Tin Roof in Nashville, and they were talking about Sharpe getting less time on the field because of the team’s pick, obviously a sensitive topic for many football players.

Satterfield claims the two players told him to go outside of the bar with them after midnight, and he is quoted as saying he “believed the group was headed outside for lawful purposes.”

The conversation between the three became heated after Satterfield made comments about Sharpe getting less playing time because of Davis. The lawsuit says it was understood by all parties that Sharpe was upset by the Titans’ selection of Davis.

According to Satterfield’s lawsuit, Sharpe and Tretola told Satterfield to follow them outside the bar just after midnight. Satterfield says in the suit that he “believed the group was headed outside for lawful purposes.” The lawsuit is for $500,000 in damages for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy.

In a statement to Nashville’s FOX affiliate, Sharpe’s agent Blaine Roche denied any of Satterfield’s claims.

“The claims are false and ridiculous,” Roche said. “Unfortunately this is a classic shakedown attempt. Tajae categorically denies any involvement whatsoever and looks forward to vindicating his name and focusing on what matters most – football.”

The situation seems a bit extreme to happen over the idea of a loss of playing time, but with alcohol involved, who knows what really happened.
