Terrance Ferguson

SG/SF, Adelaide

Draft status: In with an agent

Terrance Ferguson, a former five-star prospect who spent last season overseas in Australia rather than playing college hoops, is a high upside athlete with the potential to be a good 3-and-D wing at the next level. Ferguson was a quality shooter in high school despite hitting just 31.3 percent of his triples for Adelaide and should be able to provide value to a team as a floor spacer even if he’s not built to create his own offense.

Defensively, there are probably more questions about Ferguson than there were even a week ago. He didn’t produce a ton of statistical impact in Australia, but his length and athleticism offered a way forward. However, Ferguson measured slightly smaller than expected at the Combine, coming in at 6-foot-7 with wingspan just below 6-foot-9. A slightly longer wingspan would have given more confidence in his potential to be switchable and handle some of the bigger wings in the NBA.

That said, the Portland Trail Blazers have three first round picks in this draft and if they elect to use all of them, trying to hit on a potential two-way wing late in the first round is the type of risk you should take. Locking down that archetype is difficult to do and with a backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, Portland really needs their wings to be good defensively.
