Grambling State, 4

Willie Brown, DB

Undrafted out of Grambling State in 1963, Willie Brown landed with the Denver Broncos in 1963 and quickly established himself as one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. Following four seasons (and 15 interceptions) in Denver, Brown was traded to Oakland. In 12 seasons with the Raiders, Brown was part of three Super Bowl champions, including Super Bowl XI, in which he scored a 75-yard touchdowns after intercepting fellow future Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton.

Junious (Buck) Buchanan, DL

Buck Buchanan was the No. 1 overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1963 AFL following a Hall of Fame career at Grambling. In 13 NFL seasons with the Chiefs, Buchanan was part of two AFL title teams and also won a ring for KC’s victory in Super Bowl IV. The Alabama native was a six-time AFL All-Star and two-time Pro Bowler, and had his No. 86 number retired in Kansas City.

Willie Davis, DL

A 15th round draft pick in 1956, Willie Davis spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before spending a decade as one of the best defensive lineman in the history of the Green Bay Packers. A member of the NFL 1960s All-Decade Team, Davis won three NFL titles, helped the Packers win Super Bowl I and II, and was named a Pro Bowler and All-Pro five times each.

Charlie Joiner, WR

The Oilers drafted Charlie Joiner as a defensive back in 1969, but moved him to offense as a rookie. The move paid off as Joiner amassed 750 receptions for 12,146 yards and 65 touchdowns with Houston, Cincinnati and San Diego. Joiner’s best seasons came with the Chargers, with whom he was a three-time Pro Bowler and a first team All-Pro in 1980.
