The Houston Astros have taken over the top spot in the latest edition of the MLB Power Rankings.

Entering the 2017 season, the Astros were under immense scrutiny. That tends to happen after the front office executes an aggressive game plan that adds three past All-Stars. The Astros have exceeded even the wildest expectations thanks to their pitching staff stepping up to join the offense among the best in baseball.

The Astros will take over the top spot in the MLB Power Rankings for the first time this year. Where do the rest of the 30 teams slot in? Read on to find out.

Ok, give me a second. I’m sure I can find something nice to say about the Padres other than Wil Myers is good at baseball. Ummm…well…Jhoulys Chacin has won three of his past four starts. Trevor Cahill continues to pitch well in his return to an MLB starting rotation. God bless you if you watch the Padres.

Miami Marlins 14-25

The losses just keep piling up for the Marlins. The Fish have now lost 13 of 16 games in May. This is a lost season, with little sign of hope. Try as he might, Don Mattingly cannot light a fire under his ballclub.

There really is not much Mattingly can do to turn the ship around. The Marlins have an awful rotation. No amount of offense from Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, and Christian Yelich can cover for the Miami rotation. Is Derek Jeter sure this is the MLB team he wants to stake his reputation to?
