Seattle Mariners 19-22

Last week: 2-4
Last rank: 18

The Mariners are the walking wounded. They have lost three members from their Opening Day rotation — Felix Hernandez, James Paxton, and Hisashi Iwakuma. Robinson Cano and Mitch Haniger are also on the DL. The only way the Mariners will get back into the upper half of the American League is if they can get healthy.

Seattle is shaping up to be a team that will be a major thorn in the side of the playoff contenders in August. Their injuries right now are too many to count, and it is too much to overcome, but there is still plenty of talent on this roster. Just not their year.

The A’s are getting much closer to fielding a competitive team. Give Billy Beane credit for unearthing Andrew Triggs and Yonder Alonso. They will both be dealt by the deadline for solid packages.

Khris Davis was one of the best stories around the league last year when he hit 42 home runs. He now has 53 homers since landing in Oakland, but is batting just .213/.306/.478 on the year with 47 strikeouts in 37 games. Give the title for best Chris Davis in baseball back to the original in Baltimore.
