Though he is the best player in the game today, LeBron James unfortunately is not a finalist for 2016-17 NBA MVP. Twitter wasn’t ready for this information.

The 2016-17 NBA regular season was about two things and only two things: triple-doubles and LeBron James sitting out games. Russell Westbrook had so many triple-doubles this year for the Oklahoma City Thunder that he ended up averaging one. James Harden had a lot in his own right, but he’s just not the rebounding guard that Westbrook is. Kawhi Leonard isn’t much of a passer.

Yet, those three gentlemen that play in the Western Conference got to be finalists for NBA MVP and not the best player in the Eastern Conference in James. Was James going to win another NBA MVP this year? No, because the sports media can’t relate to six-foot-nine dudes that get to work with Bill Hader and Amy Schumer on the silver screen.

James made Trainwreck better and made the 2016-17 NBA regular season into essentially re-runs of the triple-double show and the bearded guy. It’s ironic that the one guy that could have been an MVP finalist that isn’t either out of the playoffs or isn’t hurt isn’t going to the greatest NBA Awards show of all time. Drake will be there, so it’ll be lit for sure.

Twitter had varying feelings about James not getting to get all dressed up and sit next to Harden, Leonard, and Westbrook in a Heisman-lite sort of ceremony. Maybe the basketball world needed James there to elevate the ratings of this sure to be disastrous awards show? Then again, maybe somebody told James that he finished fourth and he punted on going to the awards show altogether. We’ll never know, but here’s what Twitter had to say about that.

Basically, the Twitter consensus on LeBron not being an NBA MVP finalist is this: that ain’t right and he’s going to score all the points on the Boston Celtics in Game 2 on Friday night. The world should get ready for angry LeBron. This could be a bad time for the Celtics. Just saying, not that they asked for it.
