One trade every NFL team needs to make
By Brad Weiss
The 2016 Houston Texans won the AFC South, and then went on to win their Wild Card Round game against the Oakland Raiders at home. All of that winning only meant that they would be drubbed in the Divisional Round, as the New England Patriots made easy work of them. The organization is looking to make the next step in 2017, and it looks like they have the firepower on defense to do just that.
The Texans were the top-ranked defense in the league last season, and that was without star defensive end J.J. Watt. On offense, they struggled due to the fact they spent a ton of money on free agent quarterback Brock Osweiler, who has since been dealt to Cleveland. During the 2017 NFL Draft, the team picked up D’Onta Foreman from the University of Texas, who could fill the role played by Alfred Blue in the offense last season.
The drafting of Foreman makes Blue expendable, and the Buffalo Bills could be a nice landing spot. Behind LeSean McCoy at the running back position last season was Mike Gillislee, who has since moved on to the Patriots. The Bills need another quality running back, and Blue has proven he can shoulder the load when he needs to.
For Blue, the Texans could get back a late-round draft pick, which is a solid return for a guy who did not figure to get many carries this season. Lamar Miller is a stud at running back, and when healthy, he is one of the best in the AFC. This trade helps both teams in the long-term.
