Chargers Get
Defensive Tackle David Parry
Colts Get
2018 5th Round Pick

The Los Angeles Chargers will need to make a splash during their first season in La La Land, and the hope is they have better inaugural season than the Rams did in 2016. They should be better, as they have the luxury of moving into their new city with one of the better quarterbacks in the AFC. The AFC West is going to be loaded with offensive talent in 2017, so the Chargers need to go out and get another big body up front.

That player should be David Parry, a strong defensive lineman for the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have the luxury of moving Parry thanks to the addition of Jonathan Hankins up front. With the Chargers, Parry would be a starter along their defensive line, giving the Bolts another guy who can plug up the middle of the line. This is a good move for both team, because the Chargers get better up front, and the Colts add another draft pick in 2018.

For the Colts, this trade would enable them to continue to stockpile draft picks, which they are going to need if they hope to get younger. The Colts should be better up front on defense even without Parry next season, but the Chargers cannot survive if they do not address that side of the ball prior to the season. The Chargers have the offense to score with anybody, but they also cannot stop anybody.

These are two teams that are going to be hanging around all season long, and one may be able to sneak into the playoffs. For the Colts, they may be a year away, but they are building a solid roster. Los Angeles may play the role of spoiler this season, and Parry would be a welcome addition to the defensive line.
