One trade every NFL team needs to make
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins were a team that surprised a lot of people last season, earning one of the AFC’s Wild Card spot. Their run was mostly due to an incredible winning streak towards the second half of last season, but it ended in a bad showing in the playoffs. Miami should be able to build on that momentum next season, as they have done a nice job bringing in talent this offseason.
During the 2017 NFL Draft, the team selected Cordrea Tankersley, who I believe should have been a first round pick. The addition of Tankersley makes a player like Bobby McCain expendable, and the Kansas City Chiefs could be a nice trade partner for his services. McCain has the ability to be a solid CB2 on most rosters, and the Chiefs need some depth behind Marcus Peters at the cornerback position.
For McCain, I believe the Dolphins could get a fifth round pick, which could go a long way in a good 2018 NFL Draft class. The Dolphins should be strong once again up front on defense this season, and the secondary has enough playmakers to let McCain head to Kansas City. The Chiefs could be a Super Bowl team in 2017, but they will have to navigate a tough schedule if they hope to be that by the end of the season.
Miami struck gold with first-year head coach Adam Gase last season, and he is going to have this team ready in 2017. If Tannehill continues to get better, this team is going to be alright, especially with the emergence of Jay Ajayi last season. This trade is a good one for both sides.
