3. “Don’t you just get two?”

Charles Barkley doing sideline reporting, need I say more?

Whenever Chuck does something, he has the tendency to make the situation better. Whether his actions are comical or his insight intelligent (or absurdly not), Barkley’s dopey nature never fails to enhance the entertainment. Now, combine Barkley and Gregg Popovich and you have an instant classic.

In a 2012 regular season game in Miami, Barkley took on the role of sideline reporter for TNT during the Spurs vs. Heat match-up. Following a break, Barkley caught up with Popovich for the usual courtside interview. The interview went well, for the most part. Popovich answered two of Chuck’s questions very thoroughly before the reporter made a vital mistake.

Barkley began to ask a third question. The introduction of the third question was met with a surprised look by Popovich. As a result, Pop looked at Barkley and cut him off with a simple question “that’s your third question, isn’t it? Don’t you only get two?” Barkley’s expression changed from focused to embarrassment in the blink of an eye.

Barkley was quick to point out his mistake, saying it was his bad. The two looked at each other and smiled before breaking out in laughter as they walked their respective ways. Barkley’s colleagues in the booth chuckled as Chuck briefly said goodbye to Popovich.

Barkley’s mistake proves that even the most experienced reporters can make mistakes. Popovich is always aware of the situation, so be on your toes at all times. Pop doesn’t ever allow for more than two questions, unless your name is Craig Sager Jr.
