5 times Manu Ginobili made us believe in miracles
2. Game 1 — 2013 Western Conference semifinals
Fast forward to 2013, Manu Ginobili was at it again, this time against the Golden State Warriors, the Mark Jackson Version.
It was a different time and a different Golden State. Steph Curry was still having ankle injuries. Draymond Green was just a raw young player and new to the league. Klay Thompson wasn’t what he is today. Looking back, even though it wasn’t really that long ago, it was just, well, different for lack of a better term. However, he was still there. Manu Ginobili was fighting against the hands of time but still managing to produce efficiently on a consistent basis.
San Antonio, who defeated the Lakers in the previous round were now faced with the task of taking down the young and hungry Golden State Warriors. The Warriors were a No. 6 seed and had upset the Denver Nuggets in the previous round.
Game 1 between the Spurs and Warriors was tightly packed. The teams had managed to play into not one, but two overtimes.
Manu had enough by that point. So, with a little over three seconds remaining, some kid name Kawhi Leonard inbounded the ball to a wide-open Ginobili. The rest is history. He nailed a 3-pointer putting the Spurs up 129-127 which would turn out to be the final score.
San Antonio would go on to win the series and to advance to the Finals against the Heat. Unfortunately for Manu, they would lose the series in seven games thus robbing him of another championship.
