No. 6: Rameses of North Carolina

Name of Show: Little Ballers

Network: Comedy Central

Voiceover By: J.B. Smoove

There’s no second guessing North Carolina as the state of premier basketball. The Tar Heels, for one, need no introduction, given the fact that they’re not only successful in basketball, but other sports, as well. Both men’s and women’s programs in lacrosse and soccer are extremely good, in addition to the football program, which is gaining steam because of Larry Fedora. The university is also well-represented on the business level, so there are no ingredients that disqualify their mascot, Rameses, from his own TV show.

Little Ballers isn’t just about profiling Rameses as a basketball player, but as an influence to kids from all disciplines of sports. If you ever watched Disney’s The Jersey back in the day, then you have the general premises of Little Ballers. For those who haven’t watched The Jersey, it follows the lives of a few teenage friends, one of whom inherits a magical sports jersey that transforms them into sports stars of the past and present.

There’s no magical jersey involved in Little Ballers, but it’s the responsibility of Rameses to  engulf the viewer in what UNC has to offer from an athletics standpoint. The show would also concentrate on former and current Tar Heels, such as Michael Jordan, who made the university into the powerhouse it is today. Mixed in with those interviews would be mini games that Rameses would host in order to engage the viewers not just about UNC, but about the benefits of an active lifestyle.
