Bournemouth: Adrian Semper

Bournemouth exceeded expectations this year by finishing 10th in their second ever season in the top division. Their young manage,r Eddie Howe, continues to impress and has ensured the team stay in the Premier League thanks to a commitment to an attractive, attacking style of soccer.

But they didn’t exactly make it easy on themselves. Bournemouth allowed the third-most goals in the to flight. Their goalkeeper, Artur Boruc, deserves his fair share of the criticism, and at 37 years old it would make sense for the Cherries to pursue a keeper this summer.

Sadly, as a relatively small club, they don’t exactly have mountains of cash to dump on Jan Oblak’s front lawn. Instead, they need to look for hidden or developing talent.

Enter Adrian Semper. The 19-year-old Croatian has been playing for Dinamo Zagreb in the top league in his home country for the past year. In that time, he’s managed 10 shutouts in 21 matches. He even has Champions League experience, making two appearances before his team were eliminated.

It’s important for Bournemouth to scoop Semper up ASAP. Chelsea previously had an offer of about $4 million rejected, while other big clubs have been keeping tabs on him.

He isn’t exactly going to be enticed by an offer from Bournemouth for their name alone, nor will Zagreb want to part with their future for a small fee. But he would surely be tempted by the opportunity to start for a top half Premier League side, and to show off his skills on a bigger stage. And the Cherries certainly need a keeper.
