18. HokieBird

The HokieBird is one of the goofiest mascots to ever step foot on a college football field. It’s also one of the greatest of all time. This gobbler doesn’t just save its best work for Thanksgiving every single year.

One of the cool aspects of HokieBird is that the name is all one word and it carries swagger with it every time it touches the field. It’s one thing to be walking out onto the field in a giant bird costume, but it’s another for the mascot to strut their stuff.

This is one of those mascots that is held dearly by its fan base and insulting it is a steep price to pay for anyone dare does so. HokieBird is also an avid Metallica fan and every game it enters the field to Enter Sandman while the students lose their collective minds.

One, any bird that gets down to Metallica is worthy of being known as one of the greatest of all time. Two, he might be goofy in appearance but that bird leads by example for all the other mascots in the ACC.

The gargantuan orange feet are the final touch to this famous mascot. It’s like the badge of honor for those that are lucky enough to put on the costume each year. This is one twisted bird with a serious attitude.
