13. Buzz

In the heart of Atlanta, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have long known Buzz as their mascot. When it comes to insect mascots, things can really go one of two ways — they can be absolutely horrifying or they can be hilarious.

Fortunately, Buzz isn’t at all terrifying and comes across as the lovable goofy mascot that you don’t have to worry about being stung. That is unless of course, you come into the stadium wearing Boston College or Syracuse gear.

At that point, just consider all bets off. Buzz is also just a perfect name for a mascot. It’s simple and to the point. It’s one of those names that when you hear it, you just know that it’s meant to be the one.

Perhaps his best quality is his ability to interact with fans. If there was a competition for which mascot in college is the best at crowd surging, then it’s Buzz by a mile. That’s his thing he’s best known for.

When Calvin Johnson was a young man racking up plenty of touchdowns for the University, Buzz probably spent most of his days in an endless wave that reached major typhoon levels in the Atlanta area.
