30 goofiest mascots in college sports

27. Rameses

If this was a ranking of the most legendary mascots, Rameses would be near the top of every list. Since this is a different type of list, Rameses falls back a little bit and it’s for good measure. He’s more fierce looking than goofy and that’s what makes him one of the best in college sports.

The other cool thing about Rameses is that when it comes to football, he’s not the only mascot out there. There is also a live horned sheep that accompanies the team when they take the field each Saturday.

Inspired by legendary fullback Jack Merritt, the ram has become one of the mainstays of college mascots. It’s more notable for its appearances on the college basketball court and the success the Tar Heels have every year.

The yellow horns and the painted eyes make it one of the more fierce mascots. The name is top notch and certainly one of the best. It’s almost in that same category as say a Knightro, where the fierceness is so over the top that it comes across as “goofiest”.

Then again, that’s the charm behind one of the best. Let’s just say this thing doesn’t mind giving it right back to the fans of the Duke Blue Devils in their yearly rivalry games in either sport. It’s hard for an ACC mascot to top this one.
