The largest division lead in the National League belongs to the Nationals, who sit 8.5 games ahead of the Braves and Mets in the standings. With division foes in Atlanta, Miami and Philadelphia all rebuilding, and with New York ravaged by injuries, Washington might have the easiest route of any MLB team to the postseason.
Stephen Strasburg struck out 15 and allowed just three hits and one walk in a May 27 victory over San Diego. Max Scherzer was nearly as good the previous day, and held the Padres to one run one three hits and two walks in 8.2 innings. Koda Glover picked up his fourth and fifth saves in those victories, and is now officially the closer for the Nats.
Offensively, Anthony Rendon hit .429/.520/1.143 with four home runs and nine RBI in six games during the week. Michael Taylor and Bryce Harper each homered twice.
