17. Bubba Smith

With a name as awesome as Bubba Smith, yeah, the dude had a killer ‘stache during his awesome life as a powerful pass rusher turned movie star. He destroyed dudes to the sound of “Kill, Bubba, Kill!” while at Michigan State. You can’t technically say that anymore, unless you’ve got an awesome blue mohawk at a WWE event, but what a time to be alive that must have been, seeing Smith go to work in East Lansing.

Not only did he win big time with the Baltimore Colts, Smith would go on to play the unforgettable Moses Hightower in at least six installments of Police Academy. That mustache of his was definitely worthy of being a cop ‘stache in half a dozen cop comedies for sure.

Thin by the base of the nose before exploding into a pair of awesome boomerang looking things that mustache of Smith’s it was. It was just too good to think about connecting about his infectious, gap-toothed smile. 80’s cop movies needed Smith’s ‘stache and smile to be worthwhile.

Dignified and majestic, you could have hung a badge proudly on that mustache of Smith’s. It was glorious and we definitely miss it. He tragically died at the age of 66 in 2011 from heart disease. From Michigan State to Police Academy to playing the accordion with Steve Urkel on Family Matters, we’ll miss the man, the actor, the football player and of course the mustache.
