Sometimes even the leader of the free world messes up a tweet just like the rest of us.

There’s no question that Donald Trump is the most engaged President of the United States to date when it comes to social media. He’s an especially big fan of Twitter, using it to communicate his thoughts directly to the people, both supporters and detractors alike.

However, sometimes that openness and willingness to tweet without a filter can open him up to some unintentional comedy. And there’s arguably not been as big a dose of that to date as “covfefe.”

What is covfefe, one might ask? It originated from this tweet:

Obviously, that was an unfinished thought of some sort, one no doubt touting an accomplishment of some sort. However, the Preseident sent covfefe out into the world as it was. And late night Twitter was delighted to welcome it.

The pronunciation of this mysterious new word was especially fascinating to the Twitter community writ large.

And there’s also the equally perplexing question of whether President Trump knew he even sent that tweet or realizes whether he can delete tweets.

In any case, it’s pretty clear that covfefe brought people together for a chuckle, at least for one random May Tuesday night, and for that, we should all be grateful. Whatever or whoever it turns out to be.
