National Donut Day only comes once a year, which probably makes doctors happy, so make the most of it with free donuts.

As treats that you should probably only have once in a while go, it’s hard to beat donuts. Unless we’re talking about free donuts, that is.

And when it comes to free doughnuts, today is the day. Thanks to National Donut Day, a number of chains are giving away their goodies.

It’s not just a marketing gimmick either. As our corporate sibling Fortune explains, National Donut Day commemorates the “Doughnut Girls” of the Salvation Army who gave free doughnuts and coffee to soldiers during the two World Wars.

That’s pretty cool, as are the chains participating by giving us a sugar rush for no cash today. Here’s where and when to go to get yours:

  • Dunkin’ Donuts: Buying a beverage is all you need to do to get a free classic donut from Dunkin’, while supplies last.
  • Krispy Kreme: Perhaps one-upping Dunkin; participating Krispy Kreme locations are giving customers one free doughnut of any kind. Find the nearest location to you here.
  • Duck Donuts: One of the hottest chains on the donut scene is giving away a free donut of your choice with any purchase. Also, your receipt from June 2 doubles as a buy one, get one free coupon for a 1/2 dozen donuts through Aug. 31.
  • Tim Hortons: Known for its coffee as well as its doughnuts, you can a free one of the latter with the purchase of the former.

Be sure to hit up Fortune to find out about even more stores participating in Free Donut Day. Be prepared to wait a little bit since there’s bound to be a lot of people out seeking free donuts, but it’s likely to be worth a little line when that donut hits your taste buds.
