NBA Finals 2017: Warriors vs. Cavaliers Game 2 live stream: Watch online
By Luke Norris
Turnovers were a huge factor in Game 1 and for the Cleveland Cavaliers to have any chance of evening this series, they have to take better care of the basketball. LeBron James had seven of his eight turnovers in the first half and the Cavs ended up with 20 total in the game. You just can’t give a team like Golden State extra chances. They have too many weapons on offense to give them extra possessions and if this continues in Game 2, the Cavs are going to go home down 0-2. On the flipside, the Warriors tied an NBA Finals record (2005 Pistons, 2013 Spurs) with just four turnovers in Game 1.
Another problem on Thursday night was the lack of production from the supporting cast. LeBron, Kyrie and Love did their thing, scoring 67 points between them, but that leaves just 24 points from everyone else. Tristan Thompson put up a goose egg and J.R. Smith scored just three points on four shots. Richard Jefferson played nicely off the bench with nine points but he was the only real bright spot outside of the Cavs’ big three. With LeBron constantly being doubled, the role players are going to have to step it up in Game 2 to keep the Warriors from making history. With a win, Golden State would become the first team to win 14 consecutive postseason games.
