NL Wild Card Standings

Los Angeles Dodgers (35-23, .603, +1.5)

The Dodgers briefly pulled into the lead in the NL West early last week, but weren’t able to finish off the sweep over the Brewers in Milwaukee and fell one half game behind the Rockies at week’s end.

Clayton Kershaw rebounded from a rough outing against the Cubs in his previous start to strike out 14 Brewers in seven innings Friday. Kershaw allowed one run – a solo homer – on just two hits and one walk to improve to 7-2 and lower his ERA to 2.28.

Arizona Diamondbacks (34-25, .576, – GB)

The Diamondbacks stumbled at the end of an 11-game road trip over the weekend, losing three in a row to the Marlins, but there’s no reason to panic yet. Arizona still holds a comfortable four-game lead in the NL Wild Card standings, and sits just two games out in the NL West.

Chicago Cubs (28-27, .509, 4 GB)

St. Louis Cardinals (26-28, .481, 5.5 GB)

Pittsburgh Pirates (26-31, .456, 7 GB)

Cincinnati Reds (25-30, .455, 7 GB)

Atlanta Braves (24-30, .444, 7.5 GB)

Miami Marlins (24-31, .436, 8 GB)

New York Mets (24-31, .436, 8 GB)

San Francisco Giants (23-35, .397, 10.5 GB)

San Diego Padres (23-35, .397, 10.5 GB)

Philadelphia Phillies (19-35, .352, 12.5 GB)

The back-to-back sweeps in California were disappointing, but the Cubs rebounded with a hard-fought three-game weekend sweep over the rival Cardinals at Wrigley Field to close the gap to just one game in the NL Central, and four games in the Wild Card race.

Despite a sub-.500 record, St. Louis is still within striking distance in both the division and Wild Card, and the Pirates made progress in both cases as well. Miami’s series win over the Diamondbacks gave the Marlins the biggest jump of the week, and the Fish head to Wrigley Field Monday for a three-game set.
