3. Brooklyn Nets

Much like idea of Holiday on the Knicks, Holiday heading to play for the Nets makes more sense for the team than the player. For the youngish Nets, Holiday would add a veteran who has been through plenty in the league and could be a valuable resource for the young up and coming players.

Holiday would also give the Nets a much needed and versatile talent boost in the backcourt. He would be able to play with either Jeremy Lin or whatever shooting guard Brooklyn starts next season with thanks to his defense and shooting. The addition would also give the Nets a bit of insurance after Lin missed so much of last season due to injury. And if Holiday is great this season he becomes a great trade chip for Brooklyn next summer if a team strikes out on high priced free agents and needs an upgrade at point guard.

Honestly though, this feels possible only in specific circumstances. The best reasoning for Holiday to head to Brooklyn remains money. With no draft picks in their possession and no real young players on the roster, Brooklyn will need to spend a bit to become competitive in the future. Holiday would give them a very talented player at a very important position who is just entering the prime of his career. If teams are scared away due to Holiday’s health and unwilling to offer a max contract Brooklyn could, and probably should, throw the most money at him to given themselves a true building block for their rebuild.
