4. Uptick in recruiting with Bob Stoops gone

When a coach steps down after a long period of time with a program, it can lead to other schools having an uptick in recruiting. Make no mistake about it, Bob Stoops was one of the best at recruiting and the accolades the program has are a reflection of his ability.

With Stoops stepping down, there’s going to be a natural uptick in recruiting for other programs like Texas, as prospects will reevaluate their decisions on where they want to play. It’s a natural component of the business.

Herman’s trying to get those big recruits to commit to his school as he attempts to make an impact early. Stoops leaving could allow for him to steal a recruit or two away and get some more impact players on the Longhorns.

If he can nab some talented gems, then the Longhorns will be in a great spot to try and take command of this rivalry. Herman’s had a proven track record of doing more with less in his career and now he can do more with well, more.
