9. Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M – October 23, 1999

It was Bob Stoops’ rookie season as head coach for Oklahoma after he had been promoted from defensive coordinator. Oklahoma had been middling for three years under John Blake and it was time for a change. The athletic department at Oklahoma interviewed a lot of viable candidates, but chose to go in-house with Stoops instead.

Arguably their biggest game of the season was at home against Texas A&M, who was ranked No. 13 overall in the nation coming into the game. This was back in the days when Texas A&M was still in the Big 12 Conference. It was a game that Oklahoma wasn’t expected to win at all, yet they steamrolled the Aggies en route to a 51-6 victory.

The Sooners finished the season at 7-5, but this would be their most memorable and lopsided win of the season. It would be a game that would set the tone for the future of Stoops’ career at Oklahoma.
