Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are really bros now. Seriously, Green saved Thompson from absolutely ruining himself after fouling Tristan Thompson.

When one Thompson jumps on the back of another, you’re gonna have a bad time. That was almost the case in the third quarter of Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson left his feet and landed on Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson’s back. As the Warriors’ Thompson slid off the Cavaliers’ Thompson’s back, it didn’t look good for the Golden State guy. He was about to fall at least six feet on a part of his body that wasn’t going to take to kindly to the Oracle Arena hardwood.

Mid-fall, Warriors power forward Draymond Green saved Thompson from breaking himself completely on that fall. “Let me save you,” might have been something Green said — or not. Either way, it was a heads up play for Green to grab Thompson before he really hurt himself.

See Green knows that Thompson will need to stay in the game for a lot of reasons for Golden State to close out Cleveland and win the NBA Finals. Thompson plays great on-ball defense, guarding mostly Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving. He can also hit 3-pointers in bunches to set the Warriors offense ablaze.

While Golden State took a large lead in the second quarter, Cleveland has done its best to keep it competitive in the third quarter. Cleveland has leaned on one of its sharpshooters in shooting guard J.R. Smith to barrage some threes to keep Cleveland in this game.

Had the Thompson Twins not been stopped by Green, who knows how it would have effected the Warriors defense. Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about that, as Green was there when Thompson needed him most.
