It’s June 12 and Ervin Santana is still an AL Cy Young candidate. In fact, his candidacy is getting stronger. Santana bounced back from his roughest start of the season June 3 to shut out the Giants Saturday, allowing just four hits and one walk to improve to 8-3 with a 2.20 ERA and 0.89 WHIP. The 34-year-old right-hander has tossed three shutouts this season, more than anyone else in baseball.

Next week will be a busy one. The Twins have eight games scheduled over the next seven days, which will stretch their current string to 13 games in 12 days. Most importantly, Minnesota hosts the Indians for four games next weekend. Cleveland, meanwhile, hosts the Dodgers before the pivotal four-game set against the Twins.
