John Salley won four NBA championship rings, including one with the 72-win Bulls who he calls the best team he ever played on

John “Spider” Salley believes the Golden State Warriors are good for basketball.

“They are beautiful for the NBA!” Salley exclaimed. “Everybody complains they got all these different stars and I say you mean like the Lakers with Magic, Kareem, Worthy? They had five number one picks on the Lakers!”

As much as Salley is a fan of the plethora of talent the Warriors have, he does not believe the Warriors could beat the 1996 NBA champion Chicago Bulls with whom Salley won his third ring.

“I think we would have won every game and twice on Sundays,” Salley boasted. We had Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. We played as a team. We lost ten games in the regular season because we we were knuckleheads. We should have never have lost ten. We lost to a first year Toronto team because we didn’t take them seriously.”

Salley credits his NBA upbringing to both Isiah Thomas and a lot of tough love from Bill Laimbeer.

“They knew I was tough, (Thomas and Laimbeer) but they always tested you,” Salley remembered. “Bill Laimbeer and I probably spoke to two or three times in my first three years in the league, When we won the championship he thanked me for putting up with him, but said it was the one time he would ever thank me. Bill was one of my favorite teammates that I ever played with. He made me a better player, Taught me about politics, money and was just a really good guy.”

Salley is working with the Blue-ray Disc Association, UHD Alliance, and LG around Father’s Day where he is hoping to get some nice gifts from his three children. He is outspoken about clean vegan living and is invested in the marijuana business.

“I am in the cannabis business, Salley said. “My daughter owns it, I am the consultant. I am into it deep along with my veganism.”
