6. Jason Day misses the cut

Another players who’s been in great form in his last two events played is the Australian Jason Day. He’s a player who really doesn’t need much of an introduction. Ranked third in the Official World Golf Rankings, he’s one of the biggest names on tour and someone who many people think will be in contention whenever he’s in the field.

What’s more, Day’s has also finished in the top 25 in his last two outings. That includes finishing outright second in the AT&T Byron Nelson a few weeks ago. That all seems to bode well for him. And on top of that, he’s another guy that has no problem unleashing the big stick with great power off of the tee. So, why then is he going to miss the cut.

For Day this season, the key factor in his play has been all about the mental game. Part of that has been due to personal issues that he was dealing with early in 2017. However, that’s not the factor coming into the US Open. Really, it’s all about him enjoying himself and being positive heading into the tournament.

From his comments about Erin Hills and just seeing him in practice rounds, he doesn’t appear all that relaxed coming into the second major of the year. Without question, he has the prowess to make this prediction look incredibly silly and even be in contention to win. However, I don’t see that happening. I say he falters early and isn’t around on the weekend.
